Sorry I've been slack about posting to the blog. Coleen and I have had some cool changes taking place in our life and ministry lately. We are currently maintaining our normal travel schedule through the fall but we've also added a very important commitment. I was invited to join the amazing leadership team at Seacoast Church in Mount Pleasant, SC. I had been enjoying some involvement with Pastor Greg Surratt and his team over the last few years and it evolved into a conversation about my coming down more permanently. We are currently doing a two-day a week schedule flowing around the road trips that I am so honored to continue. I am still a part of the leadership at our church in Georgetown and privileged to work with several other churches around the country. We are excited about what God is up to and we anticipate the future He has planned for us. Seacoast is an mazing organization and we are thrilled to be a part! We'll keep you updated on the situation. Check out the church's website: Seacoast Church

A FRAGILE, UNSTOPPABLE FORCE! That is my description of the church. It is fragile because it is made up of unfinished, often times broken, imperfect but delightful people. It is unstoppable because it has the very life, presence, purpose and power of God at work in it and through it. In a message I shared recently at my home church I described some of my philosophy (theology) about the culture that we built our church around. My philosophy or theology, whichever you’re more comfortable with, has been greatly impacted by Scripture but also by my years as a pastor and marriage and family counselor. I believe the cultures that we create in our churches should “feel” like it felt to be around Jesus. This message is my attempt to explain some of the things that have helped shape our culture so that people feel and recognize God in our midst.

Download the message, it is "Fragile Unstoppable 06-05-11" on the PodBean.com site. It is free. Then come back here and join the conversation. Agree, disagree. Just be civil. Thank you.
It’s an important conversation with the potential for far-reaching impact and influence. From the vantage point of my age, experience and exposure I will raise questions, state opinions and hopefully, provoke thinking and dialogue.

I am a pastor, counselor, consultant and life coach. I spend more and more of my time with leaders, their families and their organizations. This multifaceted assignment has evolved over three decades of ministry as a church planter, long term pastor and marriage and family counselor.

I have spoken to congregations and audiences for 30 years. I’ve had about 12,500 appointments with individuals, marriages and families. I have read 100’s, if not 1000’s, of books in a fairly eclectic mix of topics and perspectives.

I am on a quest to find answers to a very simple, but critical question -

“Why are real freedom and lasting change so rare?”

Or, stated differently, why don’t more people live passionately purposeful lives that radiate and reflect the joy of breathing God’s air?

Here on this website and blog I will share from books, life experiences, and my years on this unquenchable quest. Join me as we seek to discover and share ways to do life better!

YOUR TURN: What percentage of people do you think are living the life they have always wanted? Why?
